Our Vision

Reach More Riders, Change More Lives

Deliver safe and effective programmes to benefit more riders with a variety of needs in line with our Core Purpose.

Core Purpose

Provide interaction with horses to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for people experiencing disability, or who have specific challenges or needs.

We aim to enable and support them to achieve good lives including meaningful participation in, and contribution to, important life activities and roles in their community.

 Who are we?

Tōtara Park Riding for the Disabled Association [TPRDA] is affiliated to New Zealand Riding for the Disabled (NZRDA) which is a charitable organisation responsible for over 45 RDA groups around the country.

An Operational Certificate is required in order to be affiliated to NZRDA. This requires us to comply with mandatory and required standards set by NZRDA. These standards are constantly under review and are updated to come in line with the latest Health and Safety Act, the Vulnerable Persons Act and the Animal Welfare Act.

Training of volunteers, coaches and therapists is provided by NZRDA qualified trainers to ensure that all volunteers have the knowledge and skills to provide programmes that are safe and meet the needs of riders and horses.
